Finally Kate is sleeping through the night! She started around Christmas time and has been doing great ever since. We usually try to put her to bed around 8 or 8:30 and she sleeps until 6:30 on a good day, sometimes it's a little earlier, like 5:30. Either way, it sure beats getting up in the middle of the night or at 4;30 in the morning!

January was a fast but fun month. After travelling a lot around Christmas we enjoyed staying home most weekends. We did go to an OU basketball game with Kyle's parents. We got Kyle's dad tickets for Christmas since they were playing Missouri where he is from. That weekend we also celebrated with my grandma for her 90th birthday!

Kate is so much fun. She is scooting along or rolling along on the floor. She's trying to crawl but doesn't quite have it yet. Instead she gets up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth or scoots backwards. She likes her food and eats mainly baby food but has tried some table food such as green beans, cottage cheese, cheese, bananas, mashed potatoes and pudding. She really likes baby mum mums and will smack when she really likes something.

Kate is really enjoying her jumparoo these days also. She's always liked it but now she's really getting into jumping up and down. You can say "Kate jump!" and she goes nuts jumping up and down and smiling.

Big news in our family is Kyle's new job. He had been one of three candidates for the past 3 months that were asked to perform all different tasks of the job. At the end of the 3 months Kyle was chosen. He is now Loan Manager for Arvest bank in Bartlesville and Dewey. He has mortgage loans, commercial loans, consumer loans and loan operations under him. I'm very proud of him and know he will do a great job.

This week we got to do one of my favorite things-go to OSU basketball games. We went on Monday night when they played Texas. They did great the first half and then puttered out the 2nd half but it was still lots of fun.

Next weekend Kate is getting dedicated at church. Kyle and I have always talked about how Kate is God's child and just a gift He gave us to take care of on earth. This will be a public statement of us giving her to God. It's fun that it will be on Valentine's Day also! It will be fun to have both of our families up also.

Today I got to visit a dear friend, Alisha, who I have known since I was about 2. Her little boy Ridge is the one I have written about before. Ridge has been in the hospital since summer and has a rare disease. He is the sweetest little boy and oh so cute. I can't wait until he gets to come home (hopefully for more than a few days this time) and him and Kate can meet again and play together. Anyhow, Alisha commented on my lack of posting so I thought I'd dedicate this post to her:)

So much has been going on this past month or so it's been hard to post, plus when I do get on the computer I seemed to get sucked into being on facebook and not moving!

Kate is now 6 months old and so much fun. This is my favorite age so far. She's become a pretty easy baby, almost always happy and smiley. She is sitting up, rolling over, rocking back and forth like she wants to crawl and eating all kinds of baby food. She's just growing up!

We have had lots of fun these past few weeks but have stayed very busy. The pics below start with the most recent event-Christmas!

Another month has flown by

Sweetie pie

Well another month has flown by and despite my lack of posting-we are still here! Kate is so much fun these days! She had her 4 month appointment Monday and weighed 12 lbs 9.7 oz and had grown an inch and a half to be 24 inches long. She is smiling all the time and has found her feet recently and is enthralled by those. She also likes her hands, watching Cash and watching people talk.

One of my good friends is having a baby in January and her shower was this weekend. The hostesses had so much fun planning and decorating for Andrea's shower. We've been planning this shower for many years! God has blessed Andrea and Chad with a little girl they are naming Alayna. I know her and Kate will be the best of friends.

As you can see in the pictures Kate was a lady bug, a.k.a.-"love bug." We were away from home on Halloween but still managed to have a great time. I ran the Tulsa Run (one of the best races in the state) and Kyle and Kate came to a few stops to cheer me on. She also got to see her auntie K and uncle Evan run. It was so much fun to run in a race again. My friend Jennifer who moved to Houston ran with me so we had a great time catching up while running. We ran the 9.3 miles in 1:13:48.

Kyle and I also went to the OSU vs. Texas game. Although we thought it would be a better game than it was we still had fun. We both got to see some good friends and have a night just the two of us. Thanks Memaw and Becky for watching Kate.

I have been attending a MOPS group and last week they had a professional photographer take pictures of the kiddos. I haven't seen Kate's yet but I did take a few at our house before we left. This is one of my favorite outfits! Her memaw bought it for her before she was born because she knew her mama would like it. What's not to love-pink, black and polka dots, some of my favorite things!

We've been staying busy with showers and birthday parties lately. Kate and I attended my aunt Beverly's wedding shower also. Beverly is marrying Kelly Friedl on December 5.

Last but not least here are a few random pics I took of Kate on our front porch. I was hoping to take her to the pumpkin patch (even though she's probably a little young) but we never made it. So here are some Fall pictures!

What We've Been Up To

Almost a month has passed since I last posted. Lots has happened! I went back to work September 15. I only work part time which is nice. It was a hard adjustment the first week but it's getting easier. I am always so excited to pick her up those days! I have 2 wonderful babysitters which made the transition much easier. They are so good w/ Kate and both have 2 daughters of their own that love on Kate and play with her during the day.

Kyle and I went to Mamma Mia one night in Tulsa and then the next we headed to St. Louis for Kate's longest road trip so far. She did great! She would stay awake a little while after she ate but after that she'd sleep. She slept almost the whole 6 hours! I know not all trips will be this easy but I have to say this one went really well. We had a good time in St. Louis. Kyle's grandparents, aunt, uncles and cousins all live there. His parents and sister and brother and their spouses/kids also came. We took Kate to the zoo. She was a little young but still liked being pushed around in the stroller. Her cousin Mason is 14 months older and he loved it! I can't wait until Kate enjoys it as much as he did. We also went to eat on The Hill, the old Italian neighborhood and to a Cardinals game. We saw Matt Holliday, an Oklahoma native, hit a walk-off home run! We enjoyed seeing everyone and a big thank you to Mike and Susan, Kyle's aunt and uncle, who watched Kate for us during the Cardinals game.

Not much else is going on. We are headed off to OKC/Seminole this weekend for a golf tournament that benefits a scholarship fund in my late cousin Jason's name. He died a few years ago in a head-on collision when he was in his early 20s. Kyle always gets a team together and plays. It will be a fun weekend seeing both sets of parents and our siblings and their families.

P.S. A belated birthday wish goes out to Kate's papa Kent, Kyle's dad. We are celebrating his birthday tonight!

And thank you to my mom and dad for coming to okc to watch Kate while we eat at Deep Fork!

I love this little girl!

Over Labor Day weekend Kate and I went to Seminole to visit my parents. Kyle was out of town playing in the National Nazarene Softball Tournament. It is his 10th year or so to go. His team finished 4th out of 70+ teams. Way to go honey!

Kate and I hung out and played with her Memaw and Grandpa and Auntie K and Uncle Evan. We also watched the OSU Cowboys beat Georgia! Go Pokes! Kate's grandparents got her her first OSU shirt to wear to watch the game. Her dad received the pic on his phone and said, "I like everything but her shirt." That shouldn't surpise anyone who knows my husband as he is a big OU fan!

We also went shopping at the Allen Outlet Mall in Texas. Kate really raked in the new clothes! Her memaw bought her lots of new things and some pretty church dresses. Mom got a lot of new clothes to start back to work in next week.

I'm not looking forward right now to going back to work but I know once I get back in the hang of things I will enjoy it. It's only 2 1/2 days a week and I've got two awesome ladies watching Kate. She'll be surrounded by some older girls each day which I'm sure she'll love as she gets older.

Last weekend Kyle's brother got married to Rachel Kircher. It was a beatiful wedding and I am excited to have another great sister-in-law. Kate didn't attend the wedding but got all dressed up for the reception.
Congrats Clay and Rachel! We love you guys and are excited for you. Marriage is a lot of fun!

A Call to Pray

The past 3 weeks one of my best friends from High School has gone through something no one should have to go through. She has stood over her little boy as he battles a rare blood disease. Her little boy, Ridge, who was born in April is in children's hospital in OKC because of a rare blood disease drs discovered he has after many tests and lots of research. Only about 30-35 people in the world have this disease. It is not curable but manageable. They discovered it because Ridge had been spitting up blood and having blood in his diapers. The disease is called MLT (the true name is so long I'm not even going to begin to spell it) and the thing about the disease is that its victims have lesions in their stomach, thus causing the blood in spit up and stools. Ridge has had over 13 blood transfusions and has a rare type of blood, O-. There is talk this week about the possibility of removing some of his stomach so that the number of lesions is reduced to help stop the bleeding.

I say all this to urge everyone to pray for Ridge and his parents, Brandon and Alisha. They are an amazing family of faith and truly believe God can heal Ridge. Pray that God does a miracle as we know he is capable of.

We have taken tons of pics of Kate in the last 6 weeks but rarely have we got a pic of our new family of 3.

This was us before Kyle and I went to see Wicked with my parents and Evan and Kelsey.

Thanks to my grandparents for babysitting and all the other family that came over to see Kate while we got to enjoy a great play!

P.S. I have the most wonderful husband-he surprised me with season tickets to the productions in Tulsa at the Performing Arts Center. We will get to see Mamma Mia, Wizard of Oz, Little House on the Prairie, one about the Beatles and all their music, Legally Blonde and a Cirque production!! I am so excited to go to all the shows and get to enjoy time with my hubby! Thanks babe!

My sister-in-law Crystal and her little boy who is almost 16 months old came for a few days this week. It was fun to visit and hang out and see Mason in action! He is so cute and such a sweet little boy. He did well with Kate. The last day they were here he started to say "baby, baby" every time he'd get close to her.

Last Friday I went with my bible study girls to eat. We were getting together because our friend Jennifer is moving to Houston. I am going to really miss her! I have known Jen for the past 6 or 7 years. We have trained and ran a few marathons and 1/2 marathons together. Throughout many miles of running we have developed a great friendship. We will miss her but hopefully she will be back in Bartlesville someday!

Kate got all dressed up to go eat Mexican with the girls. She even wore her socks that look like Mary Jane's! I thought she looked pretty cute...

I thought I'd post a few cute pics of Kate today after I gave her a bath. Normally I don't bathe her every day, more like every other day. However, although she had a bath yesterday today called for another one. She had a blowout-it got on her back and the 2nd onesie she had worn today. Needless to say I put her in the bath!

She is starting to enjoy her baths much more. Kate is now pretty relaxed and happy in the tub and afterwards as you can see below.

So I am not as good at keeping up with this blog as I thought I would be...but I am still here.

Kate is doing well. She is 5 weeks old now! We have been staying busy seeing family and friends. I have been thankful to my friend Megan who comes by once a week to see Kate and I at lunch. It's always so much fun to have her and talk to a great mommy who always has good advice.

Kelsey, Kate's "Auntie K," came up last week for a few days and helped so much with Kate. Kate got really spoiled by her aunt. I loved having Kelsey! We had fun shopping and hanging out with Kate. We also did lots of walking in the neighborhood. Can I say hills, hills and more hills?

Last weekend Kyle's brother had his bachelor party so I went to my parents. It was fun to have more help with Kate and to see my parents with Kate. She got to meet many Seminole friends also!

This week we travelled to Tulsa to visit Lindsay, one of my sorority sisters. We had fun going to lunch and catching up.

Today Kate got her first taste of Pi Phi:) I took her to a Pi Phi Alum Club meeting. It was fun to show her off-maybe someday she'll be a Pi Phi!

As you can see we have been staying busy which I like. Next week Kate's aunt Crystal and Nanna and cousin Mason are coming up which will be fun. Then it's off to Uncle Clay's wedding. He's marrying a great girl, Rachel, who Kyle and I helped set him up with. It will be a lot of fun and Kate will get to meet some of her great grandparents and great aunts and uncles.

The first few weeks...

Kate is now almost 3 weeks old. It has gone by really fast. It feels like yesterday we were in the hopsital. It's amazing how fast the days go by with a newborn. The first two weeks were pretty hard just because she had jaundice and she wasn't gaining weight so we had to supplement feed with a syringe of breastmilk in addition to regular breastfeeding. This past Friday she was weighed and weighed 7 lbs 3.6 oz so she is getting bigger and close to her birthweight! Hopefully by Monday's dr's app't she will be at her birthweight.

Kate is precious and Kyle and I are loving being parents. We love holding her, kissing her, taking naps together and nighttime drives around Bartlesville with Kate.

Both of our parents have come up in the past few weeks which was a huge help. My mom stayed with us during the week for the past two weeks which was wonderful. Kyle went back to work all day this week so it helped having an extra pair of hands around. She helped so much with Kate whether it be helping me feed, changing dirty diapers or staying up with Kate in the middle of the night so we could get some sleep. Thanks MeMaw! Grandpa Newberry got to come up this past Thursday and Friday. He loved holding and talking to Kate. Kyle's parents made us some great meals when they were here and also helped with cleaning the house. We owe a big thanks to our parents for all their help.

We have also had so many friends bring us meals, gift cards to restaurants, etc. Thank you so much!

I feel a lot more confident on my own as the start of this week soon approaches. We have some outings planned each day which will be fun, even if it is just going to the doctor, optometrist, etc.

We didn't make it to the fireworks show this year but Kate did get dressed up in her new outfit for the event. We did get to go eat with friends John and Ashley. It was Kate's first restaurant outing and she did great! Slept the whole time

Kate's Birth Story

This may be long but here is the labor story. Tuesday morning I woke up with some back pain and some abdominal pressure. I took a warm bath and most of it went away but I still called the dr. to see about it. The doctor said to go ahead and come in to his office. We got there about 10:30 and I was at a 5 1/2! He said to go to the hospital asap. We ran home and got our bags and checked in vto the hospital. We got there about noon and I was at a 6. About 1 o'clock Dr. Collins came in and broke my water. He wanted me to have some contractions before I got the epidural. I definitely started feeling them! I got my epidural when I was an 8 at about 3:30. Dr. Pearman, the anetheseologist (spelling?) was wonderful and made me feel so much better! We were able to relax until about 4:30 when we started pushing with the nurse. I was at a 9 1/2 by this time. The pushing continued with her for about an hour and then she said we could take a break. After about 30 minutes Dr. Collins came in and I pushed for about 20 more minutes and at 6:39p.m. our lives were changed when Miss Kate Olivia Hubbard came into our lives. We already are so in love with our precious daughter.

Thanks to all our friends and wonderful family who came and visited, brought us food, took care of our dog, etc. We are so blessed!Here are a few pictures we've taken the last few days.

Happy Anniversary!

Kyle and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary on June 3. He was so sweet to me all day, starting with a really nice card when I woke up. Then I was surprised by a beautiful arrangement of Gerber daisies delivered to work. He also planned a date that night where we went to eat at one of our favorite places here in town, Frank n' Lola's, and then he got tickets to "Annie." It was a really fun night with my hubby.
I can't believe it's been 3 years already. We have had so much fun being married and getting to enjoy life together. We've done lots of fun things over the past 3 years. Our favorite things have been all the trips we've been on. We've really taken advantage of getting to travel before kids. We went to Jamaica, Mexico, St. Thomas, Florida, New York, Boston, San Francisco, Las Vegas, L.A. and enjoyed every one! I feel very blessed to have Kyle as my husband. He is a very sweet and kind husband. I couldn't have asked for a better match. I love you honey!

Thanks to all of our friends who either helped or came to our baby showers for Kate. I had a shower in Bartlesville and one in OKC.

I had a shower in Oklahoma City with some high school friends and college friends. It was so fun to see everyone and see all the little babies. Maybe someday some of those little girls will be Pi Phis together! Thanks everyone for coming and "showering" Kate with so many nice things. All my friends are so creative-I got lots of cute monogrammed burp rags, onesies, a K bow holder (she already has so many!) and lots of other cute clothes and useful things.

This past week my mom came up and helped me decorate the nursery. I am really happy with how it turned out. We have everything ready we believe, so all we need now is Kate! As you can tell her nursery has a lot of black and pink, which is a big reflection on her momma's taste!

I'm new to this blogging thing but here goes! We have about 6 weeks left until Kate is due. Her due date is July 2-my birthday! When I was about 28 weeks pregnant we had a 3d ultrsound. It was so neat to see our baby girl. Enjoy the pics!
